The First Murder

Francesca Woodman

Francesca Woodman

Quiet is the moment after, an endless corridor

I wrap wire around her neck
and loop her body to mine.
The leaves cuss above.
This place in me is always
speaking, the radio hiss
of memory climbs my spine.
Pigeons circle.
Restraint is a word only,
her torso under me, so easy
to unwrap like a gift.
