Fear is stupid. So are regrets.
– Marilyn Monroe
No one can torture us quite like we torture ourselves, with our perpetuation of our patterns, the continuance of fear-based action and living, and the power of regret. We can convince ourselves of anything. If we hear something often enough, we come to accept it as truth.
The Nine of Swords presents these as fluttering birds and bats with daggers kept afloat by the power of our fear, regret and worry. The birds are circling something fierce this week. You can hear their screeching and cawing, and did they grow claws? How do you deal?
Let me say this: You don’t deal. You shouldn’t deal. That is bullshit perpetuated in society. You scream. You cry. You worry. You process as you process and you honor the emotions, the time it takes. You take the wisdom from it as it flows or rages through you.
“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves.” -Rainer Marie Rilke
MR’s Comin’ To Town Folks
Mercury Retrograde is making his seedy, cowboy way back into town on October 21, 2013 and goes direct (leaves town and stops sneering at us) on November 10, 2013. Here’s what to expect:
Mercury is the planet that rules communication. So, you may find that all of a sudden bizarre arguments spiral out of control over one small thing or seemingly nothing at all. This even extends to technology: Computers and phones can go haywire, too. Information appears half-baked to us.
We don’t always think we need what we need when we need it, though, you know? If flights change, go with it. Go buy a book and read while you’re waiting for your new ride. Don’t invite or engage in arguments or conversations that seem to spiral out of control. It’s like going with the “turbulance” and trusting the pilot. He’s been doing this job for years, and he’s got this; this is pro-surfing to him.
If you are one that usually likes your order and control, well be prepared, because MR doesn’t believe in that crazy talk.
Tips for Surviving MR’s Lil’ Visit
- Don’t take things personally, from others and the amplified self-talk you may be hearing. Listen neutrally to others and yourself. Feel empowered when you recognize what comes up from a place of mindfulness.
- Take a walk, read a book, meditate: Do Zen, introspective stuff.
- Work on things you haven’t worked on in a while.
- Read the small print. Many astrologers advise to avoid signing new contracts and making major purchases during this time.
- Do the things that start with “RE-” only.
- Watch LOL videos about cats falling in the toilet or re-read this post.
The best thing about MR is that this cowboy is in town to show you how to really listen to your subconscious, especially those of us who don’t usually take the time to do so. [Source]
Communication with loved ones will be awkward so take this time to focus on you, particularly this week. Treat yourself well. Make yourself some tea. Rent a DVD. Buy a book. Eat half a pie (I won’t tell). The Universe has a weird sense of humor right now, but this is an important week.
The important here is to make sure that you feel yourself giving yourself the time and attention you need to let this process. When we focus on the questions instead of seeking the answers and chasing our tail, we start getting somewhere. The message here is to be with yourself, care for yourself, and write down those questions.
