“THIS is the story of an orgasm. Or it could be said this is the story of an orgasm that never was, and then was, and once it was, it’s the story of all the ripples it set in motion. It’s the reiteration of the total fecundity slam dance, Big Bang Explosion that created the world.”
― Sharon Weil, Donny and Ursula Save the World
“There’s always a story. It’s all stories, really. The sun coming up every day is a story. Everything’s got a story in it. Change the story, change the world.”
― Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky
You’ve worked your ass off, and it’s about damn time it paid off. For a while you were about done. You were tired. You were frustrated. Then, all of a sudden, it came…together. There is one moment when you become the dancer of the world, where you can see all the elements at play; follow the narrative of your story and feel aware about where you are now.
The World signifies completion of a cycle, achievement, or fulfillment. Featured in the card image is a dancer wearing green (victory, success, being grounded, being aware). She has each of the elements (Fire, Air, Water, Earth) surrounding her and she can see and analyze them each. Her crown always reminds me of Athena, of wisdom, and in this case of wisdom gained by experience. This is how you change your story; this is how you change your world.
It’s not necessarily about distance or perspective, but finally you can see the entire process or system for what it is. You gain have gained more respect for your abilities and what you have learned, understanding what you can contribute but also what you are capable of. The World represents finding a true fit that just feels right. Things seem like they are falling into place.
La petite mort, French for “the little death”, is an idiom and euphemism for orgasm. This term has generally been interpreted to describe the post-orgasmic state of unconsciousness that some people have after having some sexual experiences.
More widely, it can refer to the spiritual release that comes with orgasm or to a short period of melancholy or transcendence as a result of the expenditure of the “life force,” the feeling which is caused by the release of oxytocin in the brain after the occurrence of orgasm.
The World represents a cycle of completion. A pattern has come full circle, and a new beginning is to turn on the wheel of life. Maybe a long term relationship has come to an end, but strangely you feel a sense of completion, having gotten what you needed, seeing how you have grown as a person. This doesn’t mean that sadness does not accompany any ending. The World can also represent a period of study, a career path, or other element of life that has come full circle. You may be looking forward to another right of passage: a marriage, a graduation, a birth of a child. Maybe you are even considering travel. A literal trip around the world isn’t all that impossible. You may be ready to share your world with others, and learn of their worlds. You are in a post-orgasmic state of being about life, though there may be accompanying dissonance, trust your knowledge and your steps. You know your steps, dancer of the world.
Now that Mercury has gone direct from retrograde we are ready to start something. We’ve done the re-evaluation and the tinkering with things that seemed to not come together in the past. Look at the last six months of your life, the last year, the last few years… as a map. You are the world dancer, the cartographer of your life. The story seems like it has just come together, but really it has just begun. This is the story of the orgasm of your life, the explosion of a new ripple in your narrative.
