Do you really think it is weakness that yields to temptation? I tell you that there are terrible temptations which it requires strength, strength and courage to yield to. – Oscar Wilde
The man in the top hat has a decision to make. Seven temptations are sitting pretty on a shelf. Which one shall he choose? Or, is choice just a mere illusion? Perhaps he can have it all. Or, maybe, he wonders, is there enough room here for everything; is there enough room for the thing I desire?
The Seven of Cups is a card of choice as much as it is temptation. We have our desires set before us, but is this particular manifestation what we need or hope for?
If I choose this thing, what about that other thing? Will I miss out on it? Will I miss out if I do not act on it?
Whether you’re facing a tough choice about changing careers, success, travel, confronting someone, or sharing dormant romantic feelings… the toughest part of this whole thing is the delay of choice. You can stand there staring at all the possibilities, but then that will be what they will remain as… possibilities.
Every choice implies risk; that is the nature of choice.
It is not often we find something that sings to our heart, and what is the harm of hope when it brings one happiness?
Study each item carefully. For each day of this week, I challenge you to explore your lofty dreams and temptations. Test the waters in your head through visualization. A step towards any decision doesn’t have to be a grand one; a small inspired act may be just what you need to get you going by the end of the week.
Be careful of engaging in addictive patterns of behaviors and overindulging. Be careful of nursing expectation. If you’ve been letting yourself be lazy, it’s time to get up. Stop neglecting your right to lead a full life. Dare to love. Dare to be. Dare to act. Dare to surrender yourself to the authorship of your story. Uncertainty is always a constant.
Pick a cup. Drink your fill.
