“Merry met, and merry part, I drink to thee with all my heart.” -Anonymous
The Knight of Cups calls for a time of stillness and a period of retrospection. For those celebrating the holiday season, do not overcommit yourself, but rather take time for yourself and be with those you love for its own sake. Get back to the basics and the simplicity of love and joy.
This knight is in align with her emotions, romantic, poetic, and with a calling to share gifts of compassion and warmth. The Knight of Cups can also signify the arrival of something which possesses emotional benefit. In business, the Knight of Cups represents an action taken in inspiration from an idea or dream. There is risk of idealization.
The Knight of Cups is also perfectly align with current astrology. As Venus is retrograde from December 20 – January 20, there is a sense of slowing down. For those celebrating Yuletide, Christmas, and other winter holidays, this is ironic astrological timing. This season is about stillness as the nights grow longer and the daylight shortens. It’s a time of reflection, of honoring one’s ancestors and being with one’s family. A period of Venus in station continues through December 28, which signifies a bit of indulgence and dealing in “all things Venus,” such as beauty, love, and art.
This knight, however imaginative, is aware of where she is and looks forward to where she is going. She pauses to toast us. The answer to the question is in this moment. What shall we toast to? Perhaps it is to our ancestors, perhaps the gift of our family, or perhaps this moment of stillness. The knight reminds one of a bard; so, for the winter holiday season, indulge in stories and games. Happy Yuletide and Happy Holidays to those in the northern hemisphere! Bright blessings to all!
